Another milestone!
over 7 years ago – Mon, Nov 21, 2016 at 07:31:59 AM

7000 thank you for supporting this project! The 1st stretch goal is now extended for the duration of the campaign:

  • if your reward includes more than 2 Solar System Voyager dice (the couple of d10 with planets and moons) one couple will be upgraded to glow-in-the-dark free of charge!
  • if you only have one couple of d10 in your reward, and your pledge level includes the line "Need Extra Dice?" you can update your pledge by €7 to get a second couple, which will be glow-in-the-dark.

As soon as at least half of you will have answered to the survey at the end of the last update, I will be able to tell you more about that, too :) we are quite close!

Let's make something beautiful.

The Constellation Dice - Voyager Edition campaign was funded fast, and this gives us time to reach more backers and lower manufacturing costs. Any savings could be used to offer you early backers free glow-in-the-dark upgrades, or more great custom dice in this fashion at a very convenient add-on price as part of your reward.

This is interesting especially since the shipping costs for current backers are already paid for, and you wouldn't have to pay them twice (which would be the case if I had to run another campaign from scratch).

I have been working on this project to build a full set since mid 2015 and I already have the designs ready for:

  • a lunar phases d4, honoring Nov.14th Supermoon
  • a compass d8, furthering the theme of exploration
  • a zodiac d12, a crowd favorite I guess

...plus several others.

I could also offer more color options, as some backers suggested in the comments.

We are in this together because of your support, so I have prepared a little survey to understand what your preferences are, in order to make something that all of you will enjoy. Please answer whenever you have a spare couple of minutes.

Thank you!

Today is special, and you are quite lucky. A couple of unique glow-in-the-dark Solar System Voyager d10 will be sent to you along whatever you have pledged for!

Stretch Goal #1: €6000... Free Glow-in-the-dark on d10!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Nov 16, 2016 at 11:54:32 PM

I wasn't expecting to succeed so much, and so soon, and I felt inappropriate to hint at possible stretch goals even before I secured the first one. Now it's different!

Plans for additional dice are on the way, but I would like to thank you right now with something special (that is, until the counter hits €6000).

All the backers that have selected rewards including more than one couple of Solar System Voyager d10 will have their second couple upgraded to expensive Glow-in-the-dark for FREE!

This also means that if you only got one couple and pledge for a extra one, that will be Glow-in-the-dark too. Please check the "Need extra dice?" section on the campaign.

And... Happy Birthday, my love Melissa!

What are Fudge/FATE dice for?
over 7 years ago – Wed, Nov 16, 2016 at 04:46:44 PM

I have been asked this question in a forum and I think some of you may be curious.

Fudge dice are six sided dice with two plus signs, two minus signs, and two empty sides. They have to be rolled in groups of four, removing couples of a plus and a minus.
It is quite rare that you get many plus or minus together (meaning a great variation on your expected ability), allowing for more realistic results during roleplay.

The star in my dice goes around the corner so that it works both as a plus in one side and as a minus in the next side. Also, my dice are both fudge/fate AND regular d6...
the little stars in the background are incognito pips!
I have now added an image to clarify this.

But the main reason I designed these was to use them as a "background" starfield when you display them along with the Constellation Dice. This is why every set has them.
